Flash Flood Watch remains in effect

A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for much of the state until 7 a.m. Saturday.
As of 7:30 a.m. Friday, 1.81 inches of rain had been recorded at the Richard B. Russell Regional Airport.
Mathis Road is closed between Chulio and Pleasant Valley due to a tree across the roadway. Also, there is high water on Mathis at the county morgue.
A Flood Warning is in effect for the Chattooga River near Summerville.
At 4 a.m., Friday the stage was 8.7 feet...and rising.
Flood Stage is 14 feet and minor flooding is forecast.
The river is forecast to rise above flood stage by this morning and continue to rise to near 16.8 feet by this evening.
The river will fall below flood stage by tomorrow late morning.
In Gordon County, the following roads are closed due to high water as of 3:15 a.m. on Friday, December 28, 2018.
Miller Ferry Rd
Oak Grove Rd
Many other roads have high water on a portion of the roadway and Public Works crews have set out cones.
They encourage everyone to use caution while traveling and to remember “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
