Over $5,000 worth of items were recently stolen from an outbuilding on Jamestown Road while the property owner was in the hospital.

On Wednesday of this week, a Chattooga County deputy responded to a call about a break-in into an outbuilding on Jamestown Road in Menlo.  When the deputy arrived, he spoke with Jimmie and Wanda Bearden who told the deputy that they were in the process of moving from Jamestown Road to Back Berryton Road.

Mr. Bearden told the deputy that he had been moving items from the Jamestown Road residence to the new place on Back Berryton Road but had to go to the hospital for a few days.  When he got out of the hospital, he discovered the theft.

The responding deputy called in an investigator due to the number of items that were stolen.  The incident remains under investigation.
