Floyd County Schools closed Tuesday

Due to expected unsafe road conditions, Floyd County Schools and Rome City Schools will be closed Tuesday for all students, faculty, and staff.

According to Floyd County School System officials, a decision about all after-school activities will be made by Tuesday at noon. Listen for updates from your school following that announcement.

Gordon County Schools are also closed.

Bartow County Schools, Cartersville City Schools, Polk County Schools, and Trion City Schools will operate on a two-hour delay Tuesday.  

Buses will run two hours later than normal.

At this time, Calhoun City Schools plans to operate on a two-hour delay for Tuesday.  They will assess roadways first thing in the morning and determine if a closing is warranted.

Chattooga County Schools will delay opening by three hours Tuesday.  

In Alabama, Cherokee County, DeKalb County, and Fort Payne City Schools are on a two-hour delay

Darlington School will observe a delayed start at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Pre-K to 8 drop off will be at 9:40 a.m. and Upper School breakfast will be at 9 a.m.  

All Campuses of Georgia Northwestern Technical College and all campuses of Georgia Highlands College will delay opening until 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

GHC students should check email for further instruction regarding final exams.

Shorter University: All campuses & offices closed Tuesday due to icing concerns. For safety, unless an emergency situation, no one will be allowed on campus.

Floyd County administration offices will delay opening until 9:00 AM on Tuesday.

All jurors will report at 10:00 AM for Floyd County Court. All essential personnel will report as scheduled unless they have made other arrangements with their supervisors. Any employees who may still have traveling difficulties due to the weather at 9:00 AM will need to contact their supervisors to make other arrangements.

The Floyd County Board of Commissioners will still meet the morning of Tuesday, December 11, 2018. Caucus will begin at 9:00 AM in Suite 204 of the County Administration Building located at 12 East 4th Avenue and the Board Meeting will begin at 10:00 AM in the Community Room. Both meetings are open to the public. The second public hearing for the 2019 Floyd County budget will be held at the 10:00 AM meeting.  

The Georgia Department of Public Health Northwest Health District office in Rome and county health departments in Bartow, Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Floyd, Gordon, Haralson, Paulding, Polk, and Walker counties will delay opening Tuesday until 10 am.
