Thursday, September 20, 2018- 3:11 p.m.
Fort Payne, Alabama Police detained a group of individuals on Wednesday that were taking up money, claiming to be a Christian ministry, but the Fort Payne Police Chief says that the would-be charitable collections are just a scam.
The group was posing as “New Life Ministries” where they were seen on the roadside taking up money, claiming that is will be used for homeless people and possibly start a church. The scammers were apprehended in the act at the intersection of Glenn Blvd. and Airport Rd. in Fort Payne.
They have been wearing seemingly official uniforms with traffic vests, white donation buckets, and picture IDs.
Fort Payne Police are urging that if anyone sees any of the group, do not give money to them and call law enforcement if more members of the group are spotted in the act.
