Summerville Police and Chattooga County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested two people on the Fourth of July after serving a warrant for a parole violation on Marvin Avenue in Summerville.
According to a report released yesterday by the Summerville Police Department, Summerville Police was assisting the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office in serving a warrant on Marvin Avenue in Summerville when they made the arrests.
The sheriff’s department was looking to serve the warrant on fifty-five-year-old Doris Ann (Laney) Robertson.  When they arrived at her apartment she was not at home, but a Summerville Police Officer recognized her voice in a nearby apartment.
Officers found the woman inside the apartment.  While speaking with the woman about the parole warrant, officers noticed twenty-one-year-old Paul Laney sitting on a couch.  Officers said that Laney was drinking a soft drink in a cup and was so nervous, the soft drink was spilling from the cup as he shook.  After questioning, officers found Laney to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug-related objects.
Officers asked for consent to search the apartment which was given.  Officers asked about a zip-up purse on the kitchen table.  Doris Robertson reportedly asked the officer if he was referring to “the one with the pipes in it?”
Robertson was served with the parole warrant and additionally charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug-related objects.
