Additional details have been released concerning the arrest of a Rome man over the weekend on multiple charges including aggravated assault.

According to Floyd County Jail records, 52-year old Jerry Kevin Evans of a Big Indian Trail address went to a man’s home on Calhoun Road Saturday evening and hit the victim when the door opened.

He then grabbed the man by the throat and dragged him about 20 feet.

Evans then allegedly made threats against the man and his wife, hit the victim on the hand with a baseball bat, and broke a fence on the property.

Police say Evans failed to stop his vehicle as they were trying to pull him over and he continued onto his home, where he admitted that he had been drinking.

Evans was also charged with aggravated battery on a police officer, terroristic threats and acts, battery, criminal trespass, fleeing or attempting to elude police, passing in a no passing zone, and DUI.
